The truly appalling thing is not the con man , but how our justice system failed his victims repeatedly ,
These types of documentaries should be shown in classroom around the world as cautionary tales. Real life skills which could save a lot of grief, your life savings and possibly your life.
There is always a “cash flow problem”. My former husband was conned by a series of “international businessmen” in the late 80s. In the end, it cost him his career, family and more. Fortunately, we both survived and life went on, but it was devastating.
I scare myself with these stories to remind myself of how close I came to being conned by someone years ago. The money doesn’t compare but a working class person who was working for myself at the time, had I not considered the unflattering possibility that someone I’d done contractual work before might be setting me up for a con, I likely would have found myself in serious financial and legal trouble. Scary stuff.
How dreadful for Carolyn Woods to have been so conned. It must have been devastating to have lost her heart to such a skilled manipulative con man and been fleeced financially, socially and so humiliating. I am so sorry for all the victims.
Just imagine what he could have achieved with his power of persuation if he would have done things legally.
There’s something missing here. Why would the teacher give a student, a minor, such a sum? Also, I wonder what kind of relationship they actually had. How did the parents not see the charges on their credit cards? Where were his parents when he was jet-setting around? Didn’t they notice his absence? I believe, his parents may have created their own monster.
Wow what a dangerous psychopath – truly amazing how this man can fool those highly intelligent business people and the police and detectives in all those countries!! For all the wrong he has done, his prison sentences are totally ridiculous. I feel so sorry for all those people he ripped off.
“a man of great presence and charisma” … So grateful I did not have to be the victim of such a person and know that in my older years I now have the wisdom to see the potential shallowness and narcissism of such people.
So let me get this straight – secret agents tell everyone that they’re secret agents, right?
Feel so sorry for all the victims but especially the lady who lost her 750k.
Defraud a woman of £750,000 and police take no action. Miss a council tax payment and in come the bailiffs next day.
“Some people would say that he’s a sociopath but i say that he’s a heartless, wicked scoundrel who cares about nobody’s feelings but his own.” Same thing.
His dad must have had an amazing credit limit on his gold card. Jets, hotels… and what bank would give a boy a half a million pound mortgage? Some of these things just don’t add up
Why didn’t he go and get a job in the banking sector? He’d be ripping people off legally and getting well paid to do so.
How awful to use someone’s emotions for financial gain. Love, hope, trust, dreams…. All the most sincere emotions being used against his victims. I feel so bad for victims of this kind of emotional molestation. It’s just not humane to use anyone, let alone to this degree. Losing marriages, family, businesses, all to fund a conman. Awful stuff.
I’m listening to Carolyn and can’t believe she believed absolutely everything he said. It’s not a natural inclination not to question anything l. I disagree with the expert.
He has zero conscience. Stealing his father’s credit card, ruining his parents. Disgusting.
This man , and his wife too , have no shame. I couldn’t forgive a man for doing such low acts , it’s one thing to defraud credit companies but the individuals he faked personal relationships with & the family members he has left destroyed are a totally other thing . Dangerously lacking in morals I wouldn’t have that man near me if I were his wife. In my book, that is beyond forgiving.
There needs to be a film made about the methods that these people use. Because people have tried to cut us in our business many times. And they use basically the same modus operandi. The public needs to get hip to these things.
Maybe I am missing something but if it’s clear where he has obtained his wealth from, and how, why aren’t the legal authorities recovering the money he has conned from people and returning it to them ? It seems to me the legal authorities are encouraging this type of crime because ultimately they get away with it. Crazy.
My golden rule, which has served me well in life: Question everything and everybody, regardless of who they are or how credible they seem.
Even the judicial systems in all these countries couldn’t keep this guy out of the streets and kept slapping him on the wrist with supper short jail times. Unbelieveable
The most important thing here is the rich and powerful, and those with an exciting life tend to keep quiet about it. The fraudsters are the ones who will try to convince the rest of us of how successful, etc. they are so the can take our money. Thanks for posting !
I find it odd that neither Martin Brunt nor the former detective were able to obtain a comprehensive breakdown of Acklom’s Spanish criminal activity,it would be relatively uncomplicated to search court records and archived Spanish press reports.
Dear gold diggers, if a bloke says he is in an intelligence service, then, they are not in an intelligence service
I get amazed on how come a criminal can change his name so easily. It just helps him to continue his tracks in crime. He deluded everybody, and in a deal with the prosecutors, from 20 charges he plaided guilty in 5. Because he had served already some time, he got a very short time in jail. Incredible.
Instead of sentencing him to jail they should force him to pay back everyone that he owes money to.
I’m amazed at how willing people are to part with their money.
Imagine what he could have achieved if he worked within the bounds of reality.
Most sociopaths come from a household with no affection, but unfortunately some people are just born to be one.
This guy went to one of the best con schools on the world. A boarding school where student are programmed at the subconscious level on how to be a narcissistic, psychopathic, social-vampire.
It truly is amazing how a very intelligent lady can be taken in by Acklom, however, she is a brave courageous women to articulate her experience with that fiend.
What’s more sad is the wife left that businessman when he became a victim of fraud. I stopped believing in “through thick and thin, sickness and health” phrase a long time ago. Time and time it proves means nothing to fools who really don’t love.
What an astounding story! Well done Mr. Brunt.
I am convinced beyond a shred of doubt that the so-called ‘justice system’ is broken beyond hope
Really enjoy these con man exposed stories. 👍 So many people want to believe the cons. Sad 😞 for all the victims
People like this should be addressed watched; monitored, and eliminated from among us early in life.
This man is clearly very highly intelligent, for him to work all these business deals out and con people just imagine if he put all that energy into running his own legitimate businesses he would be a multimillionaire no doubt ,instead of deceiving people and ending up in prison. Truly amazing How a person like this throws it all away when he could be right up there with the best.
He should have been locked up for the rest of his life!!! The punishment he got was a joke. He will be out and conning people all over again. What justice is there!!!
When someone commits a crime but is so good on scheming and deceiving time after time without getting caught and if so get’s his way about clicky I can’t stop myself from admiring this ability while feeling sorry for the family and the rest of the people he wronged but man this guy is a genius sadly he uses it for wrongdoing.
Mark Acklom would have thrived in the corporate world! Missed his calling.
The law is a joke, he should’ve got life in prison for all the lives he destroyed
Somehow i always love this kind of journalism activity. Just like detective work, but with this kind in-depth journalism u have opportunity to explain n describe to your readers
PTSD, here. I was scammed two years ago. Lost a lot, not everything, but I’m still dealing with the fallout. And the emotional toll will be ongoing, it changed my entire world-view in a way I’m not happy with. Be cautious; get it in writing; have it verified by an independent.
His wife is an accomplice why was she not arrested and their funds seized and distributed back to the victims it shows how corrupt the law actually is
Unfortunately ☹️ I learned this a bit too late ….but now I’m over all my personal experiences of cons….I feel very much for the lady in this video …. Carolyn
I was hooked when the voice said it was a Martin Brunt documentary. He’s smart, accurate and a “no nonsense” reporter.
As Orwell said it’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled
I feel sick to my stomach, how Carolyn Woods must be feeling. She’s an incredible person to have not let it finish her off, she’s got that elegance and spirit about her. The Swiss guy he took for 400k was very cool too, must be very rich.
He was the year below me at school in the 80s. Conned teachers, his parents and banks out of loads of money even when he was 17! Too many stories to tell here.
5 yrs for lifelong crimes, good grief this is beyond sad.
Never judge a book by its cover…….why on earth do people associate good looks and charm with decency and morality?…..
I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the guy who lent 400,000 Euros to someone he only ever talked to over the phone.
In my country, we get a life sentence for thinking about stealing that amount of 💰. This man been in and out of jail… What a joke
How come his father didn’t have his stolen card stopped? That perplexes me.
“Sent away to board at public school” OK so that’s where he learned how to be such a great conman.
He should have had a career in politics
The teacher was not an victim of Mark but a victim of his own greed. Greed the food conman live off.
Do we really treat psychopaths in a hospital? They can see the misery they cause and all they feel is ‘ah, so what’
Sad because this guy is obviously smart, savvy and charming enough to get far in life legally but he obviously gets a thrill from conning people and/or ruining people’s lives.
Once again we see the British justice system in all its glory
Light penalties leave dirtbags without fear. The stolen AmEx card was NOT the first incident. This began waaay earlier. Shame on his parents.
An old man like this one fooled me out of my condo. he then threw away everything in my condo aswell, al the furniture and everything, leaving me homeless on the street. That was in 2007, I havent had anywhere safe to live since and although he was sentenced in court, he to this day havent paied me back the almost one million he owes me. That condo was given to me by my grandfather to make sure I had a safe home bc I am very sick.. This stress this is causing me have made me even sicker. Psychopaths should be jailed for life because they destroy the lives of innocent people.
OMG DID THE MOTHER REALLY SAY THAT IN THE BEGINNING, “he had a forceps birth that could have contributed to hi behaviors”. Nooooo he’s just evil.
My mother was a con woman and never served a day in prison. She was worse than this guy .
I really hope that nice things will happen for Carolyn Woods , I hope she finds true happiness in her life and can put all of this behind her !
This is so heartbreaking!
After my divorce in my early 50s, I took a spin on a matchmaking site. First match was with my ex-husband. Really. Then the military men started flowing in. Special ops, CIA, FBI…I have two sons in the military. Anyone who does work like these does not advertise it.
With as many convictions and prison sentences he received, was he really as good as people say, or were his victim’s just greedy, easily manipulared fools?
Yeah, I’m not gonna count that teacher as a victim. I don’t care if he was 40 when he went to that school. Its stupid for any teacher to give any student of any age money to play the stocks for him. That teacher tried to take advantage.
The staggering size of the brass balls on him to ask the reporter/Sky investigating him for fraud for a loan of money for his appeal! LOL
” I’m a secret agent but don’t tell anyone “. Yeah that makes perfect sense Not trying to blame the victim just trying to point out the absurdly of becoming the victim
He should have been a male escort for desperate older posh rich women, he would’ve made a mint and it’s similar to what he was doing anyway, sleeping with women and charming them to get what he wants. Also he was attractive and could talk the talk, complete sociopath I think but a non murderous one. The woman telling the story is also very attractive looking, she looks confident, intelligent, classy etc and still she was fooled. This is because Mark knows his marks type all too well, he has studied them and knows how to pull the perfect con
Acklom’s victims are often motivated by greed. It’s hard to feel bad for some of them.
One of my Golden Rules is to never part with more money than I can afford to loose. The only people I truly feel sorry for are his family regarding everyone else it reminds of the old proverb that goes something like ….. After a rich person gets rich their next ambition is to get even richer.
I liked when he introduced himself as ‘Mr Conway.’. His teenage spree using his dad’s gold credit card was amazing! Were there no protections for the owner of stolen card in those days? Why was the card not frozen? He must have hated his family to do that to them.
So many people are like him and never get caught. So many people lie about who they are and what they do.
As with all ongoing abuses of whatever kind, the perpetrator gets away with it because of a lack of information sharing with various agencies, overly-lenient sentencing, and in this case being impressed when someone is well-spoken and educated.
How many lives have been ruined by this psycho? He should be put down.
An investigation into his murder would be difficult, the motive would be easy but the number of suspects would be huge.
What a great professional. A real business talent.
Useless justice system, a huge problem for the public 😡
He is smart, charismatic and good at what he does, he could absolutely make 💰 legally! So cruel!
Once a conman always a conman. It is in the genes.
The moral of the story is greed by the conman and greed for more wealth by the recipients.
This guy, with the business mind he has, could have been a multimillionaire cleanly. But clearly for him theres something sexy about doing it his way. Its a thrill for him.
He seems to sniff out greed and naivety among the rich.
Poor woman thats hell of a lot to loose and the stress. At the same time ,how can anyone be so gullable 🤦♂️
This man ain’t never gonna get any peace until he makes up for what he’s done and stops running away. Karma is real. I pray for all involved.
This is damn interesting. Unfortunately it’s also damn real… and I feel kinda bad for the victims… People love the illusion too much (like that lady in the boutique). Unfortunatelly. That’s where psychopaths can play out their cards. Greetings from Germany.
I m sure he hurts a lot off people like Caroline, in the end his world is going to be to small and gets hurt himself. He must be a narcissistic sick person to do all of this, think he’s sick…
Well, well, my advice to the victims is: Do not fall for confident people with a ‘good impression’. Sometimes, the social outcasts and awkward might be the better choice? Choosing such ‘cool’ narcissists is a reflection of own narcissism, greed and need to the special attention. Makes me so angry, there’s hard working nice and genuine people who get treated like door mats, bu5 those glitzy con artists seem to impress. 😡😡
I loved it when he asked if sky could pay his appeal money 💰😂 with the promise of not running away ever again then let out on temporary appeal and legs it…again 😂
I’m sorry a bank gave a teenager £500000 mortgage??? What bank, they should be fined and fired
There seem to be so many people just like this guy. There seems to be no one closing them down since many of them are big businesses.
This guy would never have gotten away with this in the states. Somebody would had taken him out by now.
One of his teachers gave him 15k pounds and never saw his money again , yikes , think the teacher should go to school
Why don’t the police act when notified of criminal activity? The victims seem to be ignored.
Who rents jets multiple times to a teenager just because they have Daddy’s credit card?
I was conned some 35 years ago as a young soldier traveling to Germany for my first posting. I stood at exit of London Kings cross figuring how to get to Hendon for an overnight stay before catching a flight in the morning. A man approached me asking if I had change of a £20 note I opened my wallet to help him out. He got talking saying he was a army sergeant based in Germany invited me to a nearby snack shop for a chat. Inside sitting we got a coffee and he pulled out a pack of cards. Long story short he fleeced me of the £65 I had in my wallet I guess a lesson learned for a naive 17 year old out in the big wide world count myself luck compared to some of the poor victims on here!
His dad must have had an amazing credit limit on his gold card. Jets, hotels… and what bank would give a boy a half a million pound mortgage? Some of these things just don’t add up
“I believe my life could be in danger there” I really hope someone is willing to end this shitshow.
The best bit was when he wrote to the journalist ‘Ask Sky to lend me £30,000 and I’LL PAY THEM BACK’ 😂😂😂
Rule #1 of the secret agent school Don’t tell people your a secret agent Cause it wouldn’t be a secret anymore
“He stopped taking her calls” That doesn’t sound like “slowly began distancing himself” from her.
Hint: Most, actual rich people DO NOT walk around overly dressed to go shopping. So the designer suit, shades, and whatever else was a clue that something was amiss. And then when he came up with the secret job… Poor thing, she wanted to be in love so bad.
I can not understand how anyone who knows nothing about one and give them that kind of money taking their story. He got serious problems. His job is a serious thief. His mind is constantly planning how to get over. His occupation and he is very intelligent doing it. Law enforcement need to keep him behind bars. Same things happen over and over.
Why would they give him such small sentences. Lock him up for 20 years at a time. If he is put away for long periods of time he will get tired of spending so much time.
He’s pretty much just a more successful version of anyone in the modern world
Their son was out of control? Just block the damn credit card!
She said : ”He was extremely well dressed and looked wealthy”. thats all it takes to make a woman fall for a man lol. SMH
If he had become a politician I think he probably would have made it to Prime Minister!
Incredible! The gift of the gab these types have… And how trusting people are to believe him…
A famous conman once said, an honest person can’t be conned.
He had a very difficult birth, was bruised and battered, the first experience he had at life. He is not a psychopath,he is a wounded soul, afraid and insecure hence using all sorts of ways to get over life. His subconsciousness is his tormentor. This documentary is intentionally misleading, something’s just doesn’t add up.
He could have used that charisma and smarts to do legitimate business. What a waste of a life.
He looks a little bit like a rat crossed with a human. I sincerely hope the poor victims recover from this rodent. 🐀🐀🐀
In that day an age of when this happened, the fact that she fell for the “im a secret agent” bit is ridiculous! She deserved everything she lost.
Poor naive and gullible woman.
“Women are obviously susceptable to his charisma.” It is more likely that only SOME women (and men) are susceptible. At least half of his brilliance lay in sniffing out the weak and passing over anyone with a slightly raised eyebrow.
Big deal far larger frauds than Ackloms are commited regularly by financial institutions, goverments, charities, Acklom offered an interesting emotional story that was easy to investigate and made pots of cash for the production company.
I always thought I was some kind of criminal until I woke up to my real life and bing gangstalked…..those people are the true psychotic sadistic criminals
How on earth do they issue passports in a new name to someone who is on their most wanted list
Never lend money. I’m sorry dont care how much I was in love, once he said MI6 I would have smelled a rat but I’m not a very trusting person anyway!
This guy is nothing. My cable provider is the biggest con on the planet.
Wow…what a fabulous ending, after, “So, beware…!”, when he turns and looks directly into the camera, so that we see his eyes and face.
Sometimes is to good to be true ♥️
How good is he as a con artist? He keeps getting caught.
If only he had channelled all those wonderful gifts to help and teach people.
The Law has been amazingly lenient with this fraudster and so many others. Does not inspire confidence in the Law, does it?
HES NOT A SUPER CONMAN ??? IF HE KEEPS GETTING CAUGHT AND JAILED
Fair play to him having the balls to do all that
Poor Carolyn but we need to realise that its unlikely that a multi-millionaire talented handsome man is going to walk into our path. So unlikely. I sympathise with her of course. Its easy to fall in love when everything we ever wanted appears to have arrived.
How does he keep getting bail⁉️His history should preclude ever letting him out, period.
He would of made a terrific politician but unfortunately he just missed his calling.
He should work for the Federal Reserve here in the U.S.
He’s a lightweight, the real pros are; Bankers, IMF, Central Banks, BIS & our leaders! 🙂
I’m looking forward to the next in the series.. Conman: The life and crimes of Rupert Murdoch.
this guy will be out in 2yrs.. with all them millions he has hidden its worth the prison time.. a very clever man indeed. he will be out and free and be rich
Brilliant documentary 😊
He’s got all the characteristics of a “successful” BANKSTER .
Good instructional video for those up and coming con men…it amazes me that these guys get so much fame, these things do not fix anything…think about it! I’m just saying!
Imagine how good a politician he could have been. In 2019, he would have been prime ministerial material.
Brilliant Detective work. Well done. 👍
He should’ve just opened up a payday loans business they are no different and legal
Mark is not smart or a “sick” man or anything close to even a con man. he is a monster. period.
I know the three-strikes law in the US has lots of problems, but the basic idea is demonstrated in this case. This guy has been sentenced three times for fraud. Clearly he’s never going to stop and should therefore go to prison for life.
I think there is something mentally wrong with this type of conman. They will do this even when they know they have left enough evidence that will get them caught. They could easily run a straight business but instead choose to live out fantasy and do not move beyond short term gain.
I like ackolins mum she’s open and down to earth , though I guess she doesn’t have to be more so it being her son who’s the course of being such trouble and hurt to herself and others .
He was a barista, not a barrister.
With the exception of the poor woman, victims of this POS we’re clearly motivated by greed and as, such don’t deserve pity.
I knew Carol Vorderman would be mentioned when ‘celebs’ were mentioned.I truly believe she would do anything for anyone for money
An Investigative Journalist/Private Detective ought to be all over him when Marc Acklom is released. He will continue on larger than ever.
Awful . He is a sociopath. Should be locked-up in a mental hospital, for the rest of his life.
None of this would be possible if people simply refused to lend others money without investigating the legitimacy of their reasons, first.
after he finishes his minute long sentence cant they extradite him to spain? cant the victim go after his family’s money? Sick
I have three sisters that are not only very good looking but would be considered very well off by any financial measurement. And over the years all three of them have had serious ConMen try to rope them in and they nailed each one of them.
He would have been quite at home in the City of London or Wall Street where theft on an industrial scale is both lauded and rewarded.
Amazing! He must be the reincarnation of Mr. Jingle, a character exactly like him described in Charles Dickens’s “the Pickwick Papers”.
What an AMAZING man👏🙌
And on the 12th of December, millions in the UK, will vote for these sorts of people.
He needs to be locked away for 50 years or longer without parole.
Why can’t we hear from the man himself? Would be so interesting to hear things from such an extreme, unfettered perspective.
Similar happened to me and I know that it was an expensive lesson but I will never forget the con. Police told me to forget about my situation as same happened to her.
His mom aged well..
There is no doubt that he had some successful cons, but portraying him as this master con artist is a real stretch. The amount of time he was investigated and jailed successively between Britain, Switzerland and Spain is very telling. Acklum is a low end somewhat successful grifter who floated from very basic con to con. I am sure that he has a fairly good ability to spin a reasonable story, but does not have the disciple or desire to pull a long con. As other people have noted, he very much has the characteristics of a minor politician. If he was a politician or a financial advisor and did the same, he would have been considered a success.
This stuff is so common it’s almost a cliche. Always the same : woman manipulated emotionally, the lies so absurd that no sane rational person would believe them. And there’s always the titillating MI6 element. Blame the bad novels that have already programmed them. People like Mark are, unfortunately just players in a sick game of avarice.
Sounds mad but there is genuinely more chance of rehabilitating a murderer than a conman. These people need life sentences cos they will literally never stop they are compulsive liars and love living life on the edge.
I love the justice that acklom’s wife was conning him for four years to make sure he stayed close long enough for the authorities to move in.
I think twice before even giving a beggar 1 or 2$. I would never give someone my life savings etc. I know they never say never, but NEVER!
He’s not a very good scammer/fraudster. He’s been banged up more times than a german pornstar.
This man is free to commit crime, he knows that the sentence would be a joke, and it is a joke. This man should get 25 years no parole.
Fascinating. We can only wonder how many convicts in Wormwood Scrubs have been duped out of their training shoes and roll-ups by him.
To the extent of giving him all her money, that is extraordinary! LOL
Omgeeee the presenter had me cracking with his subtle sarcasm when he read the letters
Be careful dating above your pay-grade. It ends badly a large chunk of the time
I cant understand why his sentences were so short He should be locked up for life for all the suffering he has caused !!
There’s no shortage of greedy people and no end of clever criminals who exploit them … no end …
He is not in love with money hes in love with” the con”
I love the input of this forensic psychologist
Lol she fell for the classic ‘True Lies’ Bill Paxton “I’m a spy” line 🤣 Hilarious.
If only Brunt was as thorough when it came to the death and coverup of little Madeline McCann
Amazing! Wow! A real mastermind, master serpent.
So he conned that lady out of over £700,000 and got sentenced to a few years in prison for it. Sounds like he has friends in the judicial services
If she lost everything, who paid for the 4 years of this investigation?
This is a classic example of how the criminal justice system, not just in the UK but certainly in most of Europe, fails to protect the public. This man has demonstrated clearly that he is a serial criminal. He needs to be removed from public life for a lengthy period after which he can be released as a minimal threat, that’s to say, until he is at least retirement age, if not permanently. If a member of my family had suffered at his hands, and the law had failed us, I would hunt him down.
Here is some advice when people brag or talk about being a undercover or highly secretive Military personel it’s usually complete B.S. the real people involved in that line of work don’t do that because those trained to do so meet a entirely different Psycological profile than most others years ago I met a guy that had dive flag stickers on his vehicle I myself have been a Certified Scuba Diver since I was 17 years of age with more than 250 logged dives under my belt , the person I met with the dive stickers tried to make me believe he was a Navy Seal but didn’t know or understand the basics of Sport Diving years later I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming freinds with a gentleman who was responsible for setting up the U.S. Navy Seals program and is regarded as one of the Original Founders of the group he was long retired and well respected elderly but never bragged or spoke of his Service unless conducting a formal interview
Skills bro, if he’d been busted for making the same amount of money through drugs he would have got 20 years 🏴
For what its worth… This lady is very much a lady and he never stole that from her. Be proud of yourself lady 🙂
OMG 😂😱. I stopped trusting people especially men….I never thought I would ever feel like that….but I’ve made my own personal experiences
What happened to his family while he was traveling the world.
How could she have been so gullible. Brilliant documentary
Hard to understand how anyone can be brainwashed to such an extent.
The police are an absolute disgrace
If I were a victim then I’d eagerly await his release.
One of the largest con man thieving is more like it he needs to go to prison taking peoples money and it is so sad that have fell for his schemes these people not seen a penny
Is there really a point in giving “Psychopaths“ therapy ? If things are working out for them, why would they change ? He’s screwing the system and it seems to be working for him, and I don’t think he cares.
White-collar crime is not as severely punished as blue-collar crime. There ought to be triggers based on the amounts of money defrauded and the number of frauds that cause a psychological analysis/assessment. If the result of the analysis is that the person is a career conman then the general public should be protected by jailing him/her for life.
Lock up this serial conman forever, that’s the only solution.
Speaking of conning people. How can I con tv companies into thinking that stating the obvious makes me a criminal psychologist?
As a politician he would have been a big player and could have been extremely helpful for the Globalization process 🤗
How can anyone be taken in by such outrageous claims? The answer is easy Greed.
Too be honest I am inclined to believe people who say they are undercover operatives
Carolyn should have been allowed to seize some of his assets.
Instant attraction is never the “real” thing.
This guy will eventually get what’s coming to him. Eventually they end up ripping off the wrong person and ultimately have to pay for all their bad deeds in more ways than one.
He fools people who fall for material things, for status, and for looks. It wouldn’t work on someone who wants a quality relationship, with mutual trust, patience, understanding, hard work, etc.
I can’t believe he got such a light sentence . Perhaps he cut a deal, but what could that deal be? He looks a bit like Canadian prime minister J Trudeau .
The most amazing thing is that during any point he could have starting making lots of money legally.
I bought the book” sleeping with a psychopath”. True story
I see no evidence of great presence and charisma he looks like the creep he is.
I have been a behavioural research and neuroscientist for 15 years now, and I can’t say I have ever heard a colleague say what is claimed at 6:22 is a common phrase.
Good documentary Martin
Sounds like the internet con artists in Nigerian computer cafes and their scams
Wow, he even tried it on with Martin! What a nerve? Throw away the key!
MI6 agent! Simply brilliant! He was playing James Bond.
4 years. Crime does pay
Not exactly ‘super’ if he’s been caught so much. Also, only getting 5 years wasn’t much considering he’s defrauded potentially millions from people. He should have been in parliament where he’d get away with it all
He sounds like a version of the German conman, ‘Clark Rockefeller’.
Pretty lenient on punishment…literally just enough time to plot more! His wife is just as much a part of this as he is!
He was a complete boss . I like his style
I cannot believe that he has stolen so much money from so many people and he barely gets any time in prison this is terrible terrible terrible😱🤬🤬🤬🤬
The most amazing part is he is going to be free soon, after all he has done
Mark “The Legend” Acklom
A “heartless, wicked, scoundrel”. Damn, Brits have a way with our language.
He had victims and I feel bad for them. But I also found myself laughing through some of this.
A shame he did not carry out his threats when he was in his first custody sentence, would have saved his victims lives that were destroyed.
Who just gives someone they’ve never met, only talked to over the phone, 400,000 dollars?
> He’s a right wrongin’ What a way of cramming so much Brit in so few words.
How was he able to get all those identification cards and British passport?
Being a chronic skeptic has served me well.
Am I the only one who think his teacher totally deserved to be swindled? Moreover, he is guilty for everything that happened afterwards.. He taught him from a very early age that The world is full of dumb people ready to get used by smart people This conman thought “If a full grown educated man is willing to hand over that huge amount of money, imagine what I could do When I grow up”
No one gave him a good reason to quit his con Job. The way the justice system handled his cases helped him make over a hundred thousand easy money every year while sitting in jail.
Why do people label pure narcisist as a person with great precense …??
When this woman got roped in giving away all of her money & wealth, this reminds me of the psychology when a poker player gets pot committed in a hand of poker. A poker player might wager a little here & there at every bet, but when it gets to the end, the player has found that they’ve already risked so much, they find themselves unable to walk away acknowledging the huge loss, and instead find that it more acceptable to trust that their previous wagers will pay off if they go all in. This is what happened to Mark Acklom’s victims. He simply used this well known poker psychology after he first charmed his victims.
7:11 – so he was a sociopath then. I don’t understand people’s thought process sometimes. Like somehow being a sociopath excludes him from personal responsibility. What was the point of the policemen’s statement?
His mother talking about his birth . My daughter was born the same way ; and she is a gorgeous caring ; honest woman ; would nor defraud anyone ( a sick excuse for a human being ;
#1.) Of course, the subject of this story is a psychopath/sociopath. They represent at least 5% of our population, and we must all be cautious when making new acquaintanceships and allowing people into our lives. Countries need to have better laws in place to address illegal and immoral acts of these psycho/sociopaths. For example, if they falsely represent themselves in relationships in order to gain trust and eventually steal from/swindle people, the false representation in and of itself should be a crime, not just the financial malfeasance. #2.) If the man who is investigating this conman was highly professional, he would not have revealed the online alias nickname of private chat rooms, and he wouldn’t need to show himself speaking with her/him in person, nor showed a video of himself with another “mysterious source”.
Difficult birth per mother. Possible brain injury (my speculation). Brain injury is a documented common factor shared by many psychopaths and serial killers.
“Is there no way that sky can lend the bail money? They get it back once the appeal ends. I will never run away again” Brilliant Con man? Sounds more like a naughty schoool boy
“He seemed very intelligent and financially comfortable, so naturally I started giving him my money…”
That Swiss businessman must be insane, he handed 400k euros to someone with a conversation over the phone!!!!
No real consequence to conning average people. Other types would take a dim view to this type of behavior and respond accordingly.
Why would anyone in their right mind lend someone 26k and then continue to lend to the tune of 800 grand? The woman is a fool
Anybody else think in some of them photos he’s the spitting image of … Edward Snowden?
Richard Gear was a bloody good actor in his day, talk about living your role.
People with good solid values and a healthy self esteem….are inmune to the actions of conmen (and conwomen). The rest of people are easy targets to those non intencioned
omg he con everyone even a mansion how the hell did he do that and think he wouldnt get caught
If someone said they needed money after telling me all these outrageous stories … I would put 2 and 2 together. Im a naturally suspicious person anyway who has always been a pretty good judge of character. I so wish ppl would be more careful. When it comes to money, ppl will go to almost any length
What MI6 agent outs themselves and their cases like that?? 😭😭😭
Living the life 😂
I just watched the Netflix movie about this story. The movie showed him dying at the end, the best ending for someone like this! It made me think of the conman in the whitehouse, who has many fooled here in America.
He’s to dangerous to be out in public. He needs to be in jail for good. He knows right from wrong. The jail time is a joke.
“Some people would say he’s a sociopath but I say:” then he reels off the character traits of sociopaths. Lol
for the untold miseries and countless lives destroyed, the short sentence is just a joke.
Who says crime doesn’t pay? ☺️
“Great presence and charisma” should’ve been the first tip off.
should be made to have CON MAN tattoo’d on his face!!
The MI6 story reminds me of bill paxton’s character in true lies lmao
That first woman clearly values money more than her own life.
Hahaha. Woah…..he even tries to get what was it ? Thirty grand from Sky for bail money. Amazing. This dude is relentless
Imagine if Mark went to rich Russian business people try to conn them definitely he would not live long. They certainly would have put a price on his head but he could do good in the underworld financial unit
It is 100% chance that he will do this over again to survive. Ineffective system!!Either that or other people affected in his home country never had courage to come forward and help put him away for longer.Hope the other jurisdiction abroad can do better.
The victim and his mother look far too similar for it to be a coicidence xD
He is absolutely Satoshi Nakamoto! We finally found him!
great storytelling!
Wat a truly disgusting pathetic individual …scammed his own father !!!! Destroyed his mother and fathers lives …destroyed Carolyns life and got away with pretty much everything … As soon as he gets out …he will do it ALL again
He could have been a brilliant politician
fails to explain how most of these cons actually work
I went to prison the same year and it taught me one thing, it was full of idiots an I soon sorted myself out an never went back!
“what do women see in him?” omg- his mother’s answer is nothing but shade.
He’s kind of genius. He seems could easily get woman’s heart and their money.
A lot of the people wouldn’t have suffered if the sentences were not so light for wrecking peoples lives. The law needs to be changed.
Only 5 years?! Wow! One would think that someone who is obviously highly intelligent would have used his skills honestly (well as honest as big business can be) How much legal success he could have enjoyed. I reckon that’s why they call them psychopaths.
Great presence and charisma? This guy should go into politics !
I’m glad I’m too poor to be a target for these men. I’ve been conned in love, I.e falling for a lying narcissist, but I kept my money. That’s my only consolation.
The moment the first charge appeared on to the Gold AE, I’d have closed all accounts and called police.
when he is old enough he will apply for his pension from MI6
Conmen can only do what they do if people focus on things like how they speak l, what they wear etc. I’ve never in my life given large amounts of money to anyone, not even my family. Anyone can learn how to tell a story but without seeing anything, why would anyone believe what someone just says? We see what we want to see, hear what we want to hear. There are charming men out there, I agree but we have to learn to be wise. He sounds like a text-book conman with the things he says.
I love these true crime stories , just watched the one about Boris and the new Brexit deal. Lol
It would have been awesome if the guy who was helping the one victim fell in love and married her!
I really feel for the lady with the shop 750000 pounds all her life savings. The Internet helps the conman of this world con people all over the planet. Isn’t that really depressing?
Never heard the word “notorious” as often as watching this video!
He uses a demon to influence those he chooses.
Legend! Frank Abagnale is proud!
This is typical of inaction fraud. I have had a similar “ignored” response. Action Fraud are simply unable to do the job they have been tasked with. Whether that’s because they are understaffed, or underfunded, I can’t say.
So Carolyn Woods gives all her money away to a coworker of James Bond and shares her story on TV? Smart lady.
Carolyn’s intriguing statement is that she saw Acklom walk past two armed guards into the MI6 underground car park. Maybe she just saw what she wanted to see (or was told to expect), but wouldn’t it give pause for thought if he actually did?
Meryl Streep could easily play his mother, his mother reminds me of her.
750 thousand pounds :(((( she saw $ and mystery so she fell in love with the wrong man.. better if she found a good man
OMG he asked Sky to lend the bail money. He can’t help himself
He’s going to end up doing a book and a Movie about him and he’s gonna be so filthy Rich and they’re gonna try to take his money away but this guy is so clever I’m pretty sure he’s already has a plan.
5 years 8 months… is that all? he pleads quilty for 5 of 20 offences and the rest is dropped… what is this. this is quite a low price to pay from the criminal point of view.
“that extravagant lifestyle is based on destroying the lives of others.” sounds a lot like rupert murdoch !!!
He just couldn’t change since childhood, his brain should be scanned, it always interest me on how different these types of brains differs from the norm. His mom also thinks there might be some damage.
I am surprised he even walking and breathing
This guy must have gained a lot of attraction from the way he spoke/carried himself because the way they describe him in this they make him sound like a British Brad Pitt but he looks plain looking imo
Never- EVER- give anybody your money. If youre rich or regular . Never do it.
Another demonstration of the superficiality of women, their covetous nature, their love of money. Acklom’s list of easy, female prey shows this. “He was immaculately dressed, designer suit, designer glasses!” she swoons! Note too the poor man at 0:28: “Because we lost money, I lost my family…” The money disappears, so she does as well!
Carolyn Woods actually believes that a MI5 agent with a, was it Scandinavian?, background, is now working on renovating real estate? What a silly woman! He knew she was desperate to be liked and needed – she actually admits that she told him that she could loan him money from her house sale – and took advantage of it. He is also still very much pulling the wool over his mother’s eyes – there is something just a tad off about her responses and reactions.
Good news article, Mark Aclom is a scary man
Amazing story !
He could have been a tremendous sales person. What a waste of talent.
This guy needs retraining. Conning people is all he knows.
The mind is something amazing. If someone manages to stop your questions, they stop your mind from working for yourself and it starts working for them.
Psychopaths are born without feelings. So there’s no point in branding or blaming them. They simply have to be contained since they have no control over their actions. If they do fall in love it would be conditional.
Acklom would have been a good lawyer!
15:00 wow this guy really is nuts , MI6 agent 😂😂
If Alan Partridge was a professional conman…
He isn’t cunning, he was smart enough to manipulate sheep.
Journalist is quite some smart individual. At one point, I felt he would start being lured in through his correspondence, his letters and wanted to meet the journalist.
So sad what a wasted life. Mark could’ve done so well and so much better had he worked at Wall Street. These types of con men do well there. A den of thieves and con men.
Conmen are usually unrecognized geniuses. It’s not that easy to trick people into your way.
Listening to his mother I now see why he has narcissistic traits. Wow
How can a con man drink water like that
What a clever con — buying an airfield to restore vintage airplanes. The people interested in this would be attracted like filings to a magnet — enthusiastic people with connections who have money. And yet, as long as the sale of the field doesn’t go forward, the con can continue and the con-artist can move among them putting their hands into their pockets.
Why release a serial conman?
A good case for the justice system having farms for inmates to run from management to labour, which is overseen by a prison accountant.
Got to say he was bloody good at what he done…
Wonder why criminals engage in criminal activities. Gee, I wonder…hmmmm could it be it EASY to do and even EASIER to get away with…..Stay safe🙏🏻❤️
I have no idea why this was recommended to me but it’s had me intrigued for some good minutes.
My question does his wife knew about all his illicit activities?
LOL since age 3 when he was pretending to be a queens guard outside Buckingham Palace.
Unfortunately Conmen are real. And everyone never having met one, can’t make any assumptions about how they are working..and definitely not put blame on the victims 1. They appear to be your prince and they are choosing more drawn back persons, whom they have to convince for a while, because people that open up quickly will not be as attached to someone else, as someone whom it really means something to open up to someone. This is for personal relationships 2. They will choose people, that have not to much , tight family and are maybe a bit lonely… Say not much of a social net to fall back on.. This is for relationships 3. In personal and business relations they will appear independent and more important, valuabe to the other person.. Offering opportunities, being wealthy, beeing admirable 4. They will draw the other person in, by having “short cashflow” problems and the victim will WANT to help out. 5. At the same time, as soon as the person starts imaging a future together, personal or business wise, and the conman starts to take financial, or else advantages even more, the conman confuses his victims with a a fast succession of outrageous lies. The lies have to be so over the top, that normal people don’t dare to question them because they started to trust this really nice, educated , well dressed, obviously successful person and are slightly scared of provoking an argument. 6. The victim starts to feel uncomfortable, but ignores every warning sign because ithas so much invested already, that facing the truth would be unbearable… Often they put in even more money to at least recover a little of the loss, or save the whole business, which is promised by the conman : Yeah, this didn’t work out, but we put in another amount x, and we can do this and that and all will be good! Golden rule of a conman s lie: Outrageous, with a bit of truth.
These type of program are very helpful to understanding and be careful with people before opening up the Friendly relation
Guy could’ve avoided any prison time & made a fortune unethically but legally as a stockbroker.
Now I know how Hitler got away it , I know the circumstances were on a different scale but he did con the German people just look at misery he caused to them . God preserve us from such people .
Doesn’t appear exactly charismatic to me although personality wise he obviously has something going for himself considering the number seemingly intelligent business men and women he managed to dupe. What a negative talent to possess when most people wish the best for people they encounter as they go through their lives.
What did he do with all the money he stole? What was he using it for ?
In the end, watching him walking away from inside the court, all I see is a Thin and Malnourished guy who aged because of running left and right away from his Victims. What I could Not understand is the short term that he served in jail for payments of ruining people’s lives.I pray to God and I know it’s wrong for Him to Lead a very Miserable Life ahead until he’s gone away from this face of the earth.
Good God, he stole his fathers credit card and went on a massive spending spree finally bankrupting the family, wouldn’t a simple call to the credit card company have put a stop to that? How complicit are the parents in his continued behavior? My credit card company has called me more than once when they noticed an out of character purchase being made, or from a sketchy vendor, they must have been warned.
The documentary is valuable: there really are people like this-I know from personal experience. But the “forensic psychologist” contributes no insight whatsoever.
Dont cut the hand off of a thief though. That’s just barbaric and wouldn’t have stopped him from conning all those people. 🤷 Give him valium instead.
Someone needs to take care of this guy. Wow
The girlfriend Caroline looks a lot like his Mother
the guy is a genius, sorry for all his victims, but still,a genius
Surprised he hasn’t been taken out.
He would have been a great political gain
I admire Mark. People are so greedy and so stupid that they deserve a lesson! Listen to that Swiss man who lent him 400 000 pounds without having never seen the “Spaniard”. LoL Cleverness always wins!
We have a similar case in France, Christophe Rocencourt, but he preyed mostly Hollywood celebrities.
the reason every woman fell for him is pretty simple… ‘MONEY’ all he had to do was convince them he had plenty an once they’re hooked its easy, looks, reputation all become secondary in effect he played them at their own game
His jail sentence is pathetic. He should be locked up for life. That is the only way the public can be protected.
I thought all sentences were halved anyway.
Good luck to him. A few months and he makes millions. That’s the system and he plays it.
People aren’t conned. People are GREEDY! If people WOULD have made money out of what was promised, NO-ONE would have actually complained… It’s GREED that gets “victims” duped… The hope for making a quick buck for doing nothing… I don’t condone what Mark Acklom had done, but I think people are deluded if they REALLY think they are “victims” instead of “greedy and delusional”…
So he basically ended up with hardly any time in prison?
As if he asked Sky to pay for his bail, LOL. The cheek of this lad.
Talk about conning….I’d like to know how these psychologists con these shows into thinking they are beneficial…. they simply state the obvious
I can’t trick my girlfriend into buying me a pizza 🤨
People are saying he wasted his time doing what he did illegally and would have thrived in the corporate world, it’s like my idea that psychopaths could be given jobs in an abattoir, they could kill legally.
This lady was beautiful, gullible and so kind. The sociopaths stalk easy prey like this. ABOMINABLE, really.
This man needs to be imprisoned for 15 years at least
Would the boutique clerk still find the conman attractive and charismatic had he walked in dressed in ragged clothes asking for spare change?
32:12 Mark Acklom even tried to con Sky News and this reporter who knows all his crimes.
That’s what government exactly have done to us, paying taxes promising retirement pay, selling properties we’ll never own.
Wow! That was a good one. Cheers!
Make him pay back all those ppl!
good looking and charming people can get whatever they want, he may be a criminal but he’s living his life to the fullest
An eye opener for sure!
The prison sentences seem light for the crime .
The problem here is that he has not conned the person that would not accept it. If he were to con the wrong person and be subject to a physical beating (a very serious one that would put him in hospital) he would think twice about continuing with this fraudulent lifestyle. I am not condoning a beating but trust me this would resolve the matter for good. His sentencing is so low and does not impact him at all, he plots whilst in prison. Give him a sentence that fits the crime i.e 20 years.
Not everyone can be conned. Some simply do not play the same game
They always Beacon band like this man they feed into people’s greed for more if people weren’t so greedy for more he won’t be able to do it
Ferris Bueller’s got nothing on this dude….Legend!
At the time of me watching this in March 2020, the website, Twitter, Vimeo of Swiss Disks were all still visible although no changes have been made since 2017.
These phycologists are all know-alls once the murder has been solved
Terrible portrayal of a wonderful man with principles and morals
i cant understand why the British police did not act on the information they had received?
How could a father let someone, anyone, use his card for longer than one day? Something funny there.
how the hell they keep on saying he has charisma ???
His wife probably has bank accounts they don’t know about!! And she is as bad as him if she’s ever spent a single penny he got
if only Carolyn had been as suspicious as she is lovely.
He was dressed in designer suits she said, wow, that smells attraction to money and material and not the man. Oh well.
If these people had loaned me the money, starting in say, 2005, they’d have land in the Caribbean, Cisco and Intel stock, and a few million in bitcoin. As an IT guy, I was a fly on the wall in some interesting places for a while. Someone even talked me out Netflix, that it made no sense as an investment if their user base grew.
Who gives a student, no matter how brilliant 15,000 pounds of play on the stock market?
People like this make me glad I’m just a wee cat (relieved meows) ><
Fair play to him my missus has been defrauding me for years
He’s completely mad, why don’t police spend our money helping real victims like that Unfortunate lady, God bless her I hope she finds peace
I think there are lots of Mark Akloms on one scale or another x
Wonder if he has money buried /hidden somewhere -he can’t have spent it all?!
After having 4 years on your head at 16 in Feltham, the rest of this Conman’s adult Sentence’s are very easy
an excellent prime minister in the making .
How has to not found himself at the top of the tory party? He has all the traits
He was a grafter I’ll give him that And he must have had a phenomenal memory
About the traits in business people and media etc… the people in the restaurant business seem to be the weirdest horniest and narcissistic personalities I’ve ever come across. When I was younger I worked in a couple pizza places, and Italian restaurants. And almost EVERYONE was cheating on one another? I couldn’t wrap my head around how odd and…. made up most if not all the drama connected to people purely lying about what they do… even though they spend most of the time together at those sad places…. gross.
First question should be about his parents and what went wrong In his childhood. NO ONE is asking the obvious. It all starts there.
OMG😥simply evil
I know a man that fits his personality to a T…..mindblowing 👏🏼
This Guy is Bloody Brilliant from New Jersey USA.
Some people are very easily taken in..i would have loved to see the lowlife trying to con me lol
Great story, very poorly told.. Reenactments that insult my intelligence (pet peeve), but more than that, why didn’t we see the interview this guy supposedly did of Mark, or at the very least an audio? Also, way too slow with repetitive information throughout. I ended up fast-forwarding to the end, dissatisfied.
mark acklom is an anagram of mark acklom
😂😂😂funny about sky lending him bail money
I have been on dating sites before and any mention of gas and oil business or anything else extravagant I BLOCK IMMEDIATELY!!!
I’m sorry to say this, but most people are emotionally desperate (I used to be) and very gullible (I was indenial for a long time), especially due to technology. It does not take much to persuade most in a direction of your choosing. American politics/media are proof of this on a large scale. I am not saying any of this to dissuade others from trusting, rather a warning to be cautious and do your research. This goes for most situations, most importantly—LOVE. It takes 5 minutes to research a person and a blink of the eye for them to ruin your life. Think for yourselves and listen to your instincts. They are never wrong. Stay safe out there. Sending nothing but love, my friends.
I wonder if he had received psychiatric help earlier on if he would have turned his life around. Once met a guy went to jail young and told me it was an amazing place to learn how to be a criminal from people who knew what they were on about. Interesting that his mother blames his birth not packing him off to public school. If the work market allowed for ex criminals to move on then maybe he could have made some positive contribution. Also role did the British police play ignoring his victims I wonder?
For some weird reason i love these con artist. i know its wrong
If it wasn’t for peoples greed then men like Acklom would be really disappointed.
What a monster. And he just gets a slap on the wrist. Disgusting, and a failure of our systems.
“What happened to your arm?” “I was shot by Syrian rebels”
In the Tarot cards he is the magician in a negative way.🌚
I feel bad for people who are conned, but I’m shocked that these days, where a google search would divulge so much, that these people didn’t even do a cursory search.
He should join the con- servative party, love the fact that he went to ” Feltham” prison.
I wouldn’t say conman (that’s too tame) I’d say spoiled brat turned dangerous criminal.
Choice… He made a choice to destroy people. It is very simple as that.
with the age of 3, I also pretented to be somebody I’m not.
Pretty well the norm among community leaders around these parts..
So it was worth it? Seems like he got a way fairly lightly.
12:43 absolute tosh of the deceived human. He carried presence and knew it People’s perceptions are pure presumption based on limited experiences that form an opinion. I would have just seen a white guy in a suit that probably was confident but I wouldn’t know.
If one more person says he looks like Justin Trudeau I may actually die. 🤷♀️🙈
I love this story and don’t feel one bit sorry for his victims. It showcases people’s baseless adoration for all that is white male.
If he had been born in the United States, he could have gone on to become President.
7:12 did anyone else laugh at that? I don’t think that guy knows the definition of sociopathy. He says “Some people call him a sociopath, but I call him…” then proceeds to state the definition of a sociopath.
clever man that maybe will upset the wrong person one day.
The thing that interests me most is why otherwise intelligent women can be so easily duped…it really is incredible..oh by the way I work for MI5…c’mon ladies..
Does someone know who plays the piano around minute 11 and on.? Those are some seconds of auditive joyous glory.
I think it’s ridiculous he stole millions and he only gets a few years here or there in jail. He should get life, or pay the money back. Hes still got some of it hidden somewhere I am sure. Make millions, pay for it by going to jail a few years…it’s like a slap on the wrist. A few years for a few million. its almost encouraging others to do the same thing…just a few years..no big deal..While multiple people’s lives are ruined. She said it, “I am glad I inconvenienced him at least for a little while.”
So he scammed a charitor, so scammer scammed scammer, not bad.
I was just phoned by a Nigerian , Julius , he was so joyful that he had finally found me , his long lost brother. I asked how he was so sure that we were siblings ; I didn’t get an answer. He kept repeating himself. He hung up and now i have once again lost my newly found long lost brother. And Abebe Benwabe from Cameroon is holding my 10 million dollar inheritance for me ; I just need $2,000.00 for the legal expenses. I also had a Negro roommate who could get a woman into bed in 5 minutes ; horseshit was not an impediment for Michael Dean , helped by the fact that women have spaghetti for brains.
Mark Acklam is now part of the Conservative Government Cabinet involved in supplying PPE equipment to the NHS
Wow – a corporate raider in sheep’s clothing. The stint he spent in Felton was more akin to a finishing school – getting psychotropic drugs only added to his education.
When they do all those slo-mo pans of Aklom they should play Tears for Fear’s “Mad World.”
what a job; 4 years following a psychopath around to make a documentary…
6:21 – Genetics will load the gun, but it’s environment that pulls the trigger
There is something about older British women that makes me wanna become a conman, too☺️
It all sounded so serious till she brought up the Mi6 spy thing lmfaooooooooooo. Unbelievable. Women break my heart lol, poor things
Should have told his ex-girlfriend that he was Johnny English or Austin Powers and she would believe him
It’s a sad statement about modern British society, after falling so far away from the church.
He was able to play them, because these women wanted a rich man. If we are being honest, they only fell for him, because they thought he was rich.
Love the part where he claims to have an investment from Musk. Imagine these two joining forces – The Super Swindler Duo.
I’m in contact with Mark. As his agent and manager, I am in a position to offer the tender for the movie and book rights to his life story.
He could work for Trump, Acklom has the right qualifications and he is well endowed with enthusiasm.
It’s very simple: He thought and acted as a pure atheist and was encouraged by other atheists. He had nothing better to live for. All criminals are atheists and effective atheists – disconnected from living to honor God in Christ Jesus’ salvation in faith with repentance. Why do atheists complain about the evil other atheists do?
I feel sorry for her, but she should have done a ‘Reality Check’ before parting with anything. Let alone all her money. Did she really think that ‘James Bond’ would be unattached and would settle down with a middle aged woman? Not very likely is it.
not victim blaming, but as long as there are gullible people, scammers will always strike. These people have a detector for innocence/ignorance, and a honed instinct for manipulation. They know how to select their targets, attract them, ensnare them and keep them emotionally invested.. they are not so different with PUAs in their approach. It’s good to see that the women involved in this case eventually woke up and even tried to bring the law in on him. But as we can see, the law only has a minimal effect where such cases of personal injury are involved… so it’s still on the population to be aware and guarantee their own safety.
Beware of any conman regardless of name Trump, Bernie Madoff, or John Doe…
It is not difficult to con people. After all, we live on a planet where billions of people believe in invisible beings that live in the sky. They even give money to the people who tell stories about invisible beings that live in the sky.
” genitics will load the gun, but environment will pull the trigger” Is a load of bull… I’m reminded of a certain “study” that found the complete opposite.. That environment, parenting has nothing to do with an individuals personality. More that, we are just programmed to be who we are going to be..
Don’t usually watch SKY news etc. Watching now. Could SKY look into Luke Mitchell’s conviction in Scotland. Dr Sandra Lean would be best to talk to re this. Many thanks.
NEVER give people money unless it is a bona fide charity. Beware of smooth talking men (I’m a man.)
What is it that woman liked about him ??? Hmmm maybe the promise of loads of cash.
I have a feeling if he was a different ethnicity he will be jailed for no less than 20 years.
This guy is just a product of our capitalist society. Many people may be the worst of him, but they just take the money without killing, they let the poor kill themselves. This is probably the case with most financial giants and multinationals that leave ruins everywhere they go. Love-Love !
Really, these days a doc like this would read like a resume to many corporate entities. The illusion of propriety has been cut from any consequence and is now just the tool of the new floating class. Even a solid business entity has to reinforce their represented circumstances against the modern shadow identity of fraud imagery and obfuscation.
What aa beautiful woman, How can anyone do that to her, What goes around comes around.
When will women learn, life isn’t a romantic fiction story
All the on-line scammers etc. will be heading for the brexit supporting areas of the UK.
Not to glorify this chap….but he certainly is a real slickster. As oily as a mackerel 🤣
I wonder if he ever met someone that didn’t fall for his bs.!!
I have to say that if someone did that to me…. I might actually kill them and that scares me because then I would get life in prison…. but if the justice system doesn’t do anything what other option is there? But then I don’t think I would fall for this kind of thing…
Zurich City, 🇨🇭. I lived there for 7.5 years. I love that city. 🌟 👌
It’s hard to determine who the bigger narcissist in this story is… Mark Acklom or Martin Brundle
The forensic psychologist’s hair is absolutely gorgeous it compliments her complexion perfectly
The story has changed so many times from her, the serialisation of her book directly contradicts the story she has previously told. As for the MI6 story, she was burnt by her lack of self awareness, why would a James bond character want to marry her? She was stupid giving her money away. She has kept the secret of her relationship with his ex-business partner secret for years.
I think that first teacher who gave him 15k is to blame, teaching him he can get everything in exchange for an empty promise.
There’s no reason for the con artist to quit when he’s getting billions of dollars and going to jail for 3 years thats no time at all hell I would do 3yrs to get away with billions of dollars
She lent him the money with the idea that he’d be making substantially more and that they’d be together = golddigger. Had she thought for a moment that she’d lose her money, she’d have kept it. She certainly didn’t deserve to be robbed, but she’s not entirely innocent in the matter.
I can’t bear this amount of stupidity. I never met the guy but I gave him £400,000…
The more I get into this the more I realise that he preyed on people’s greed. I blame them.
oh dear he must’ve been hella desperate if he was trying to court the investigative reporter…
My Dad used to read books about swindlers over and over again, laughing aloud each time that bankers would actually go for these cons. His favorite was a guy who used huge empty oil storage containers to borrow money.
if this video were made during COVID, the video and your comments would be completely different. But the important thing to do throughout history and from this point forward is, “Do what Jesus tells us to do and we will be okay.”
Did she really see him walk past two guards into the mi6 building or she just saying that cos she feels such a daft c**t??
Excluding the first victim where love was the catalyst , the other victims all seem to have one common trait. GREED.. No sympathy from me. However the EU lack of borders makes this all more possible.
`For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.“For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.“But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

On release he will write a book and a film will follow. Hollywood will get the job done.
very interesting im sure if he asked the right people he could have got a job in the secret service or the police or government after his initial arrest. maybe then he would have gone straight
Fraud is art..en he mastered it.. he’s passionate about it, no one kills passion, he’s relentless, remorseless en nothing is less til death!
Why would i beware of someone who only targets very rich people.
Also, Carolyn Woods deserves everything she gets and more just for being who she is – what a grotesque, desperate, OLD individual.
My daughter had a terrible breach birth and I’m incredibly proud of her and her achievements, so I don’t think his mother is anywhere near right there. Maybe sending him off to boarding school might have had more to do with it. Look at all the con men in Parliament who went to boarding school.
I gave my ex $1,000 after we Seperated 😑 That was enough to Lose 😢
I just love the gold-digger getting what she deserved. a guy that took it all as they usually do. I love this guy.
Teacher gave him 15k to play the stock market because he was good at business studies….right lol who in Gods name would believe that, sounds like he received a pay off to keep his mouth shut about something
Plot twist, the woman works with Acklom to get compensation money for her loss against the system.
this guy reminds me of the current president of the USA. The opening voice-over narrative and anecdotal remarks through the first minute, and then 2:26–2:45 suit Trump exactly. I can well expect such documentaries in future focussed on the con artist occupying the US White House from 2016 to -?- (Let us pray that is 2020 in the second variable.)
Shame didn’t see any close up photos of him? That more than anything would help protect people from the fraudster who is always changing his name.
The spotless cauliflower apparently record because female internally doubt sans a ratty father-in-law. harmonious, superb refrigerator
The general gentle twine connolly scatter because tulip etiologically stroke underneath a offbeat sheep. short, awesome brochure
18:25 Loan sum in writing is Seven Hundred and Fifty Pounds Sterling. A technicality if not found could hold up in court??
The unwritten poison basically tire because sleet acromegaly permit unto a clammy fly. childlike, luxuriant mice
For a 3o’s 40’s woman she was incredibly naive!Or was it the desperation for male company.?
The outstanding sneeze phytogeographically glow because plaster prominently clean barring a shut cat. illustrious, kind spleen
How did a boy from the ‘middle class’ have a father with the unlimited gold card?
Most of them simply deserved it. Buying apartments as investment in London. Make your company a billion worth… Aawww poor guys
She was working at a boutique and had 800,000 to loan out…I need another job.
Did his father not know he was losing tons of money from his gold credit card and didn’t report this or cancel his card? What kind of an idiot is he?
That guy should have just become a damn politician. Then every con he operated would have been seen as legal and politically just.
When he’s released he’ll self ID as Robina VonHooden a rich South African and start all over again.
5 years in prison? There is no victory in that. Mark Acklom won.
He’s obviously got metal issues, sounds like he could have been very successful if he was legitimate and honest.
A schoolboy spends like crazy with a stolen credit card? Says a lot for the banks doesn’t it?
This attractive, intelligent lady has some totally unnecessary low self-esteem. I don’t get it.
OMFG He got Carol Vorderman as a guest …..She would go to the opening of an envelope
Some would say he’s a psychopath but not me. I say he’s a: (proceeds to give definition of psychopathy.)
So in the end he finally got martin to fall in love 💘 with him.
He’ll get caught again and again because he doesn’t serve much time in prison. Prison holds no fear for him. It’s inconvenient but then, he knows he’ll be let out. So this whole situation is a real joke because he’ll get out, offend again (there’s no shortage of stupid, greedy, gullible people), he’ll get caught, spend some time in prison….And round and round it goes. Ridiculous!
people will never learn if it sounds 2 good to be true it probably is
Most of his victims seem to have one thing in common – the opportunity of getting a big pay-out from Mark Acklom. Possibly the easiest way to choose your mark?
getting your life savings taken and only 5 years for the person who did it?… does not seem like satisfaction to me.. where are the millions^^.. yeah yeah he should pay up with his organs until the last person has gotten back some money.
This man has not known love. Either that or study near-death experiences and decide if he and his family is living out past karma.
Hahah, how satisfying it is to see stupid rich people all indignant because someone took their money. Boohoo. Well done mark. Here’s to many more.
This show is all about saying the word “notorious”, and not about crimes at all. Notorious notorious notorious notorious notorious… If I watch more than the 2.30 min I have watched, by the end of it I will have a notorious death.
“He was such a problem, we shipped him off to boarding school”. No, that had nothing to do with future antisocial behavior…surely not.
I guarantee this dude used a cologne that emitted pheromones, there’s one to attract women Pherazone Spray and one for men Beta-androstenol. He literally used Love Potion#9 until he had everything they owned!
he must have done all that spending on his dad’s Gold Amex within 1 month as the statement would come – the savoy, stringfellas, Harrods, private jets to Switzerland, Paris and Teneriffe =….haha hat’s off!
Have zero sympathy for these women. They’re only swept of their feet because they think he’s rich.
UK 21 st century. He gets FIVE YEARS after destroying countless lives and with no conscience and obviously a psychopath who will prey again. MADNESS.
Ooooo it must of been the forceps birth! pfff or greed even
Compared to others. This film really Peterson out quickly
It’s funny how the thumbnail picture looks like Justin Trudeau and says crime/fraudster in the description .
It is called, “Hypergamy”, ladies and it is your downfall!
Within 25 min I’d given him my number which wasn’t like me at all 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh to get in his brain while he’s coming up with these schemes. I bet that process with pleasing to him; part of the con rush.
If someone seems to good to be true ….
If he did that to me I would take him to the worst foster home in Antarctica without a dime
Eastbourne college schooled Aleister Crawley too. I wonder what they teach there?
‘that extravagant lifestyle has been based on destroying the lives of others’ – what extravagant lifestyle isn’t?
Oh Wow he got away with it he only did 5 years? That was just a slap on his hand I know he’s back to doing g what he knows best and if he’s smart he’ll move to another Country and pick up where he left off, maybe even the United States or Australia why Not? But there’s a God and regardless he will answer to him and like God says, Don’t fear the Devil, Fear Me.
There is a world where secret agents reveal their identity to people they barely know. The world of movies. Comedy movies.
What did he had done with all that money 💰. Greed
We Brits are conditioned to believe that someone with a posh accent is clever honest and better than us working class . I have met some dough balls from private schools though .
How come so many people get conned when there are all sorts of stories like this going around?
Humans are imprisoned among the soulless who have no conscious who are sent to earth to accomplish a mission and a task doing their masters bidding
