Mamoudou Gassama is a Malian man who became known as the “Spider-Man of Paris” after he scaled a building to rescue a child who was dangling from a balcony in May 2018. Here are some key points about him:
Gassama was born on January 31, 1996, in Yaguine, a village in Mali.
He moved to France in September 2017, and was living in a hostel for migrants in the north of Paris at the time of the rescue.
On May 26, 2018, Gassama saw a young child dangling from a balcony on the fourth floor of an apartment building in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Without hesitation, he climbed up the building’s facade to reach the child and pull him to safety.
