I am not saying that Albert Einstein wasn’t an intelligent man and that I can’t learn some things from him, but a lot of people can spout out some philosophical statements, that doesn’t mean that they are smarter than anyone else is, and I am sick of society thinking that because a man is ugly, old and has a lot of white hair, that that means that he is smarter than everyone else is, and that we all need to stop in our tracks to listen to them. A lot of geeky people play up the “intelligent” act because they know that they are not good looking, they know that they don’t have an interesting personality, that they are boring looking, so they play up the geeky intelligent act to get attention, but I don’t believe that you can accurately measure someone’s intelligence, but I also do believe that we all have the capabilities to do well in life, and that we are ALL INTELLIGENT and I do not need an old man to spout out some philosophical statements for me to become intelligent, nor am I impressed with any of it. People are much wiser today and not as impressed with this stuff as society was in the past..

I don’t think we ever really mean it when we call people smart. It’s just a word. IMAO, we call people smart as you would call just any ol’ random stranger in your environment smart (e.g., a guy buying milk or a woman walking a dog, etc). I mean, I know a senior who’s going to turn twenty this May, and he’s graduating that month. Of course, he should’ve graduated two years ago, at 18, the proper age. He said he had a speech delay in preschool and some years of homeschooling, bringing him down to the eight grade when he returned to an actual school (age 15). He said he has ASD and a learning disability that limits and delays his general understanding. Can’t tell you how many times he asked questions in classes or needed clarification. He was not good at biology or chemistry, and always need help in setting up the experiments for the former and had to take his own private, simpler assignments for the latter in Special Ed, because everything in our Chem class was too tough for him. Sure, he works very hard, but come on, hard work alone does not make you bright. Hard work and natural brain skills make you bright, together. Some students are smart but lazy, some are smart and hard working, and some are hard working but…well, that’s exactly what this guy is, if you know what I mean. A few teachers who admired his hard working nature said he was very smart, and that is precisely my point: we call anyone smart just for the heck of it, whether it’s true or not.
