A sixth-grader at a Washington DC Charter school elicited laughs from President Barack Obama after she told him she thought the special guest at her school was going to be the singer, Beyonce.
President Barack Obama and the first lady Michelle Obama helped fill backpacks with toys for homeless children at the Inspired Teaching charter school on Thursday.
The sixth-grader named Madison was helping show President Obama how to fill toys in backpacks for homeless children, and then said she had heard there would be a special guest for the event.
“Mr. President,” she says. “when I first heard that somebody special was coming, I really wanted it to be Beyonce.”
“I understand,” President Obama replied.
“but then I realized it was going to be you. That’s even better,” she
added.
As everyone laughed, the first lady could be heard saying, “I’d rather see Beyonce.”
The President and first lady’s appearance at the school was part of a service project honoring the 9/11 anniversary.
