Central Park 5 case concerns 5 youths that were running wild around central park assaulting persons. They were arrested and soon after a woman Trisha Miley was found raped and badly beaten and unconcious. They were interrogated and 4 out of 5 of them confessed to raping the woman.
Subsequently a serial rapist and murderer Matiais Reyes operating in that area was caught and he admitted to raping that woman. It appeared the teenagers were innnocent. Post DNA…Why did they confess to a crime they didn’t commit. Disturbing and uncannily accurate confessions; and who is to blame?
Did the police hold and interrogate them long enough to deceive and trick them into confessing.
Were they merely parrots to police interrogators?

Michael Shure of The Young Turks interviews Yusef Salaam. He came to the nation’s attention at 15 years old as a member of the Central Park Five, the group of teenage boys of color who were wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for the rape and beating of a woman in New York City and then exonerated years later when the real rapist confessed. In 2014, the Central Park Five received a multi-million dollar settlement from the city of New York for this grievous injustice. Today Salaam is an activist on issues of mass incarceration, police brutality and misconduct, and the disparities in America’s criminal justice system.

What is ur base for saying they were at the park to commit crime! Have u heard about ” beyond reasonable doubt”. That is how the justice system suppose to work. In this case the kids were convicted with a bunch of “reasonable doubt” not to mention how the cops integrated them. Agin just because u want them to be criminals does not mean they are. The fact the u dismissed the true criminal is something disturbing. As a woman myself I can’t even image the horror the poor woman went through and she should get justice. The real criminal should have been punished but because of the biased and careless job of the police she was robbed of that. At the end I would like to remind u that never did people come out and say ” let’s see if we can get a bunch of rapist out of prison for the hack of it” unless they are innocent sadly more innocent people are sent to prison. God bless I hope u watch the documentary it is well done.
Chris Cox
Sooo, all those other people in the park that night just beat themselves up?
Kingfillins
They literally said thats what they were doing there. They are the ones that called it “Wilding”. In the doco one even smiles as he recalls how he watch a man getting beaten up that night.

I was about 9 yrs old when this happened and I remember the convos of them being set-up was like wild fire !!!! And the part that disgusted and hurt me the most was all these people know that these boys are innocent yet noone could do anything to help them !!!! I’ve been paranoid since them and stayed on top of kids when I had my kids especially in their early teen years but still remind them now!!!!

This movie changed my heart n mind so much! I’ve never been prejudiced against anyone in my life! Ive always told my Mother i could’ve never lived through segregation ever, because i would’ve been jailed or worse helping someone one being treated so wrong. I feel like i hate & i don’t hate, i don’t like certain things or people, but i feel like i hate a certain type of person now.For all 5 of these men to come home alive is a true BLESSING, JESUS. Im so happy there all doing good & here to tell there TRUTH! I Pray for peace, joy, & everything good to always come into there lives, Amen. Please sign the petition against Fairstein & all the others that falsely accused these 5 men, and i want to see them all prosecuted!

I would like to think that the wisdom or God or the over seer uses inocent people as platforms to go thru experiences in life good or bad to come back to correct a society that’s corrupt in a system & the good prevails, in the View of like dying on the cross to bring back compassion & love in our world we live in

I am a mother of two sons, we were all born and raised in Chicago. When this travesty happened to these men, I was 26 years old. The talk amongst us “Black” people in Chicago was that we were clear that they were being set up! My sons are 25 and 23, currently. It has become so dangerous in the city of Chicago for “Black” males especially, so we finally had to flee. Although we are not quite sure where there is safety, we knew it was no longer there for our family. As the policing becomes more aggressive, anxiety and other illness are also becoming more aggressive among us, including, hopelessness. But isn’t that the Plan? Our only way out is God and each other, ourselves. I watched this movie-documentary expecting to be angered but what I experienced profoundly exceeded anger. There were moments of eye bulging shock! I screamed and screamed to God, I boo-who cried, I had to watch in increments in order to maintain self-control!! The only thing that kept me from going into depression is that I am choosing to be motivated by these overwhelming emotions to do something, create something to pay it forward, to help us, to be a part of our monumental need to help each other help ourselves. God and us is our way out of condemnation.

Hello I have learned just recently about the Central park 5 Love those guys I’m living in Australia. There was a case here were a young woman was brutally attacked crawled onto a strangers doorstep rang the doorbell and died. The police finally got the guy to court years later he had confessed to his friends about what he’d done. He was guilty they definitely got the right guy. In fact he was in prison for doing the exact same thing to another women but she survived. The jury were not allowed to know anything about this had no idea he was coming to court from prison everyday. He is sitting there dressed like a choir boy. He has a competent ambitious defence lawyer who wants to win the legal game.. Even though she knows he is truly guilty. She’s good she wins because the purpose of a jury is to decide who’s got the best lawyer. The police are devastated not quite as devastated as a murdered girls father. Because of this young lady lawyers legal prowess and skill the guy goes on to murder more innocent people once he gets out of prison. As a lawyer how would you feel you won but because of that people died. In the Central park 5 case you have a prosecutor who may well know that the children’s lives she is attempting to destroy are innocent but she pushes that aside because Justice doesn’t matter winning matters and that’s what has to change. It can’t just be about career ambition and ego what’s right and justice must be above all those things. Fix it…. Please

There is a system in place to ensure the fair treatment and justice for all citizens. We call it the Justice System, but is it really just? Growing up, it was my dream to become a lawyer in the United States, as I was a firm believer in fair treatment and an equitable world. As I grew older, I realized that law in the United States isn’t exactly evenhanded. This shouldn’t be the case. The Justice System and the laws that govern it are in serious need of reform.
Cassandra Owei is a Nigerian student at the American International School of Cape Town. Although Nigerian, she was born in Germany and brought up in South Africa. This global perspective has brought her in touch with many different cultures. Cassandra’s belief that all people should have basic rights and be treated equally led her to co-found the charitable company Caps For Care, a social enterprise that aims to help children in need.
