Harvey probably would have got away with it if he wasn’t so overbearing and insistent. Think about it, why is Harvey the only big name producer that’s been taken down? There HAS to be others, Harvey was probably the only one that was egregious with his propositions.
It’s such a dark place, to realize that a person has the ability to make or break your career, and he wants sexual gratification, super awkward and exploitative. Of course, telling someone NO and walking away is one way to deal with it. It seems like endless legitimate sexual harassment cases. But no one was physically forced to do anything so not assault or rape? I guess there’s a lot of grey areas for classification and I’m no expert. Seems like there was absurd amount of cases to have stopped this earlier. The other legitimate option is that one could do whatever the propositioner wants and get gainful employment in a shameful harmful manner. Do we get to hear from the women who chose this? What’s their story? Obviously this had worked for Weinstein enough times.
This type of behavior doesn’t exist just in the media, it happens everywhere males in power and authority can misuse and exploit vulnerable women or vulnerable men in need of sexual gratification and or power. It was interesting to note that his insecurities lead him to believe he could not get sex any other way. Women today are lucky to have women before them that have stood up for the good of all to demand prosecution of these types of crimes. On the flip side, there are women who also have accused men of sexual harassment that are innocent. It is sad because it makes work relations tense for both sexes in a working environment where no one is sure what will be considered appropriate or inappropriate. Norms and rules are changing and overall, I think respect and body autonomy should be a basic human right free from pressure of verbal, sexual, or physical violence. We need not be woke about it and correct every male for innocent faux pas that are not meant as disrespect. A little humor and gentle reminders go along way as both sexes learn to show respect and be respected.

Unfortunately, I bet the DA’s office was right – in front of a jury, it’s really easy to victim-blame and point at any aspect of their life that is in the least bit salacious, and get a predatory man acquitted. The degree of widespread and brazen it takes to actually get into any sort of trouble is staggering.
If he groomed himself, watched what he ate and worked out regularly, he wouldn’t have resorted to being a predator. With his wealth, he could have afforded a chef and personal trainer. He went the other way and ruined so many lives including his own. What a disgrace of a man.
I don’t but that the regret of his enablers is genuine more than it’s just saving face to protect their careers as they did in the past with their silence. They’d do it all over again if they were told it would never come to light.
It’s obvious that everyone knew, particularly the actresses. How could Gwyneth Paltrow say to Brad Pitt that she was abused by Weinstein, then publicly congratulate him for her award?
