What a gentleman. What a man of faith. What a hero.

This book was amazing & it was inspirational despite the anguish Mr. Hinton he went through. He fought for 30 years to prove he was innocent. I can not imagine how he felt trying to convince people that you didn’t do something you being convicted of. Lester, thank you for showing us that family does not always have to be blood, your friendship, love, support and loyalty is something to be admired. Your faith, fight, strength and perseverance through the most difficult times is a blessing and reminder of humanity.

I wish you nothing but blessings and happiness and love from Ireland Anthony. I’ve just read your book and as an avid book worm your story is one of the most saddest and inspirational and forgiving stories that have ever read. One thing kept popping out at me and this was the cruelty of the Alabama justice system—it is atrocious. In fact in my mind the judge and prosecutor both should be jailed for thirty years on death row as they are despicable and evil people who purported to be professional—even when they knew you were innocent they still carried on trying to put you to death. These are vile people and a disgrace to decent lawmakers everywhere. I don’t know how you found it in yourself to forgive them as they don’t deserve it. Anyway—God Bless to you Anthony and to your friend Lester—what a guy.

His story is so heartbreaking. I can’t wait to read his book soon.

His GPS story breaks my heart. He says it with a smile, but dang it really puts things into perspective. 30years was wrongly taken from this man.

I agree with Oprah… I just really liked this man as I was reading this book! I am so inspired by his story and wish him the very best for the rest of his life. I wish there was something I could do for him… and I really wish the men who did this to him were in prison because that is where they belong. Much love to you Mr. Hinton, or Ray. 🙂

This was such a good book. He not only speaks about the innocent on death row (an estimated 1 in 10 on death row are innocent)

We need people to be more angry about these injustices. Simply forgiving the system, and letting people who commit these crimes go unpunished and unaccountable is why the injustices continue, generation after generation. Forgiveness is not the answer.

They love to concentrate on the fact he has no bitterness which I’m sure understates what it took this strong man to get their.

I really can’t afford to send money, but I’m ordering his book today! I guess just mercy is next. I can relate to the GPS story. I had just picked up my father in-laws cremains & decided to swing by my old job to visit some former employees & co-workers. I had Grandad sitting in the front seat next to me, but decided to put him in the trunk for safekeeping. My old job was not in a low crime area & windows are broken several times each week for loose change! Fast forward to the cafeteria & several of the old gang came down for a visit. One of them, I’ll call her Nella who is from India & was 24 at the time. I said I just got back from picking up grandads remains & put him in the trunk. She had this horrified look on her face & was really a bit pale. Poor kid! Why did you put him in the trunk? She had a vision of my late father in-law sitting in the front seat next to me. I told her that he’d been cremated & his remains were in a box. Then she had another horrified look on her face…. how did you get him into such a small box? We all had a hysterical laugh & folks were staring at us. Sorry, it’s not really relevant, but when he described the lady in the box, I thought of Nella.

I heard this man didn’t recieve anything in compensation… Has anyone started a collection for him? It won’t undo his time..but cases like this makes me wanna give a few dollars, and If many compassionate people would do that we would be better than the system.

Oh please Oprah. Mandela sold out that’s why he had no anger and bitterness. Regular black people who were wrongly convicted and incarcerated just don’t focus on anger and bitterness, if they are lucky. It’s mind over matter. They don’t want to give anymore of themselves to those hateful beings that wrongfully put them in prison for so long.

Evil people we NOT go scot free. When sudden destruction come on evil people, no one will understand but the cry of the oppressed will not go unnoticed b4 our maker. 🙁
