what I actually always wonder why the women and babies / children were always punished for being pregnant / born out of wedlock and men always got off unharmed I just don’t understand

God be with all the women who suffered so much …And many still suffering because of abuse received

Thankyou Sheila for sharing your story….for speaking out & giving recognition to all the babies who died & were buried in unmarked graves….for giving insight into the cold harsh reality of life for the mothers in those homes run by the nuns.

My mother can relate to that.I am one of 10 children,I was born in 1966 and my eldest brother was born in 1962.Yes my mother was treated terribly by other people just because she was with my father who was black and with mixed race children.

I like that she calls it being Incarcerated because that’s what it was, what terrible cruel women those nuns were.

Well done Allison and well done Sheila. It’s a heart breaking true life story of what exactly took place in these notorious mother and baby homes and no doubt in other institutions as well. And this is a True Life story told by a real survivor who had to give her child away. Sheila is a true and real survivor an actual real mother who was there and saw it all. This brings to mind the words of a poem by Robert Frost. ” The woods are lovely dark and deep, and i have promises to keep and miles to go before i sleep, and miles to go before i sleep “.

Repugnant unloving judgemental church state and some in society, were the force behind your incarceration. Then to steal your baby, truly a tragedy on an epic scale. Thank you for telling us all your story x

Happy Days
I listened hanging on Sheila’s every word. Can hear her torment and distress very clearly. Thank God she found her son, no thanks to the church. I love the Catholic faith but on hearing this story and other similar ones it makes one ashamed of what was done within the Catholic church. With love and best wishes to you Sheila. I hope that the rest of your days are happy and blessed. You deserve the very best that life can offer. Thank you for sharing your hugely painful story xxxx

Shiela, as I am for every mother/survivor I am so sorry that you all had to experience the atrocities that took place in those dark times. My heart aches knowing what I now know about Religiously run institutions, even now there are things going on that shouldn’t be, and I will continue supporting all who have suffered and still suffer today. As promised you will find two of your poems in my book Behind Closed Doors ‘The Baby Brokers’ I will private mail you on fb for your address and sent you a copy. God bless. x
