Actually cacao was discovered in Ecuador 5,000 years ago not Central America.

People, it is 2021 and countries are still shipping raw materials to America or Europe to be turned into finish products! All cocoa producers can form a cooperative and produce their own chocolate and cocoa related products Give employees and researchers in chocolate makers a salary that they cannot refuse and they will flee to the cocoa coorporative to work and produce chocolate.

Unfortunately, Africa doesn’t get its money’s worth from its cocoa production. The Western chocolate companies make the vast majority of the profits from cocoa.

Most of ghanaian cocoa farmers along the border to cote de ivoire smuggle their cocoa to go and sell it for higher price in cote’ de ivoire, that makes cote de ivoire lead. I am from that erea and that is what happen there for since decades

Ghana was number 1 Cocoa producer in the world until in the late 80’s due to famine/drought, across the sub region. This prompted most of the Ghanaian cocoa farmers to move to Ivory Coast. The Ivorian government also paid the cocoa farmers better than the military government in Ghana by then. This resulted in mass migration of cocoa farmers from Ghana to Ivory Coast. Ghana should have been number 1 still if not for this migration of farmers.

This is a top 10 based on production volume per Annum ? If so, the top 10 is not aligned the way it should be. Dominican Republic should be 4th. According to this video it says DR produce Over 586,000 Tons.

I am Indian South African with no allegiance to India whatsoever. I am African first and Indian second. It disturbs me that we have so much resources that could make us count in spite of being third world. Sadly there is no will to do so. Blaming the colonialists forever is not going to take us any further to a better life, we have to work for it.

Ahh I am a Proudly Ivorian (from Cote d’Ivoire or Ivory Coast).

Dominican Republic does not produce that amount per annum. This is not true.

We produce but we are not the one fixing the price in the world market because we don’t transform it then the Europeans especially France is the one selling it in the world market with a marge of more than 200% once it leaves Africa. Also unfortunately On papers it appears that the Europeans are the producers not Africans. That’s one of the reasons why Africa face poverty
