A society thrives on trust between people; it begins to fracture when authority loses its moral and ethical compass.

Page Description
A society thrives when people trust one another, but begins to fracture when authority becomes separated from moral and ethical values.
A healthy society is built on trust — the trust that allows people to live together without constant fear, conflict, or suspicion. It creates an environment where human dignity, understanding, and cooperation can exist naturally.
But the opposite can emerge when authority becomes separated from moral and ethical values. Institutions may continue to function outwardly, yet internally a dangerous gap can develop between power and conscience. In such environments, rules, reputation, or institutional interests can begin to outweigh empathy, truth, and humanity.
This contrast between trust and ethical detachment raises an important question: What happens to society when authority loses its moral compass?

Union representing sub-postmasters repeatedly ignored Horizon IT concerns | ITV News
20 mrt 2024
How was it the Post Office were able to go about criminalising hundreds of innocent people for more than a decade without as much as a peep from the National Federation of Subpostmasters (NFSP), which represents the vast majority of self-employed sub-postmasters?
ITV News can reveal that the union repeatedly ignored concerns over Horizon IT.
Nick Wallis reports.
Covert recordings prove Post Office covered up scandal for years
27 mrt 2024
When the public inquiry into the Horizon scandal resumes next month, Post Office executives will again be questioned over what they knew, when, and what they did about it.
This programme has obtained secret recordings of conversations over a decade ago between senior Post Office executives and the independent forensic accountants hired to find out whether sub-postmasters were to blame for the shortfalls at branches using the Horizon system. And, as we exclusively report, they prove beyond doubt that the Post Office covered up the scandal for years as they continued to pursue innocent employees through the courts.

2 Dignity Amid Hardship: The Human Cost of Social Detachment
The experiences of working children especially confront society with uncomfortable questions about responsibility, inequality, and the distance that can grow between institutions, economic systems, and human reality. When survival becomes more important than childhood itself, it exposes a deeper social and ethical failure.
At the same time, these stories also reveal resilience, compassion, and humanity. They remind us that trust, empathy, and moral awareness are not abstract ideals, but essential foundations of a society that values human dignity above indifference or detachment.

Today is for them.
The hands that build our world.
The ones who never stop—
even when life takes everything from them.

Childhood That Will Break Your Heart
10 jul 2020
Every time I am working with children on different projects, I like to collect their stories and I always ask them to tell me their dreams. Here, I am sharing with you 10 common dreams that these working children keep inside their hearts! These dreams can give us insights into the souls of these little angels.
Child labour in Bangladesh is sadly very common with 4.8 million child labourers or 12.6% of all children aged 5 to 14 finding themselves in the work force in order to survive or to help their family survive.
I have been working on this issue for the last 15 or more years to create awareness and to bring about positive changes in our society.During these last years, I have taken a lot of steps in an effort to contribute to the education of some of these impoverished working children.
A few years ago, I set up a school for unprivileged children outside of Dhaka where around 160 children from rural villages receive nearly free education. Most of their parents are illiterate and these children will be the first generation to be able to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
I have also given scholarships to hundreds of students who, otherwise would not be able to continue their education and might end up working in factories and in hard labour jobs.
Recently I have been trying to admit working children to school. I have been giving small businesses to their parents so they can earn enough money for the family and send their children to school instead of a factory. So far, I have admitted 22 children to school and have taken full responsibility for their education including all expenses. I will see that these activities will be continued for these children and hopefully more children, until my last breath.
These efforts have, of course, been effected by the COVID-19 health pandemic and the resulting economic and labour market shock that is having a catastrophic impact, on poor people’s lives and livelihoods. Unfortunately, children are often the first to suffer. This crisis can push millions more vulnerable children into child labour.
Love and light!
