Peter Mandelson has ‘no recollection’ of receiving money disclosed in Epstein files | ITV News

Peter Mandelson, the former UK ambassador to the US, has said he has “no recollection” of receiving the sums of money mentioned in the latest Epstein files, and said he does “not know if the documents are authentic”.
The statement comes the day after more than 3 million pages of documents were released by the US Justice Department in its latest Epstein disclosure, along with over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.
The documents showed that Epstein wired thousands of pounds after Peter Mandelson’s husband asked him to pay for his osteopathy course fees.
The exchanges are between Epstein and Reinaldo Avila da Silva, Mandelson’s husband, about covering the fee for him to attend the British School of Osteopathy.
“I have no record and no recollection of receiving these sums and do not know if the documents are authentic,” Mandelson said on Sunday.

Mandelson quits UK’s House of Lords over Epstein scandal
3 feb 2026
Former British government minister Peter Mandelson is to step down from the House of Lords in London amid allegations that he passed market-sensitive information to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had threatened legislation within weeks to strip Mr Mandelson – a former Northern Ireland secretary -of his title while police are assessing information relating to alleged misconduct in public office.
The Cabinet Office passed material to police after an initial review of documents released as part of the Epstein files found they contained “likely market-sensitive information” and official handling safeguards had been “compromised”.
The files, released by the US Department of Justice, apparently showed that Mr Mandelson – as business secretary – gave material to Epstein while the government dealt with the 2008 financial crash and its aftermath.
Meanwhile in the US, Former US president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton will testify in a congressional investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The decision could divert a planned vote in the Republican-led House of Representatives to hold the two prominent Democrats in contempt, which could lead to criminal charges.
